Founded by JimmyTan in September 2009, Studio Numb9r is one of Malaysia’s most internationally acclaimed wedding photography studios. Based in Subang Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, the studio has built a formidable reputation for blending photojournalism with high-fashion artistry — a combination that has earned JimmyTan a place among Junebug Weddings’ Top 50 World Best Wedding Photographers in 2013, and World Top 30 in 2015.

The studio’s name encapsulates their philosophy: “artistic, fashion with passion and just plain fun.” JimmyTan and his team take couples beyond traditional, beyond conventional photography — into territory that is radical and edgy yet elegant and aesthetically pleasing.

Photography Style

Studio Numb9r’s aesthetic is instantly recognisable — warm, rustic colour tones with rich contrasts, dramatic use of natural and artificial light, and a cinematic quality that turns each wedding into a visual narrative. They are particularly skilled with architectural framing, using doorways, windows, staircases, and reflective surfaces to create depth and drama in their compositions.

JimmyTan frequently collaborates with makeup artist Myuna Myuna and works at distinctive Malaysian venues like Seoul Wedding Factory (Subang), Sekeping retreats, heritage buildings in Melaka, and churches across KL and PJ. For destination pre-wedding shoots, the studio travels regularly to Bali, Jeju (Korea), Okinawa (Japan), and Europe.

Services & Coverage

Studio Numb9r offers full actual-day wedding coverage with multiple photographers, pre-wedding outdoor and studio sessions (with gown provision available through their in-house collection), engagement portraits, and destination wedding photography worldwide. They also collaborate with videographer Jitz Lim for combined photo and video packages. The team is experienced across all Malaysian wedding traditions — Chinese tea ceremonies and gatecrashing games, Malay nikah and sanding, Indian ceremonies, and church weddings.
